Caligrafia, a antiga palavra grega para “escrita bonita”, é a arte de dar letras manuscritas ao texto com uma aparência graciosa e artística. Embora possa ter origens séculos atrás, em diferentes culturas e continentes, esta forma de arte tornou-se cada vez mais popular entre os criadores e aficionados da escrita à mão, para colocar a caneta no papel de uma forma criativa e personalizada. Letras de tinta primorosamente formadas exigem habilidade, paciência e prática, mas também as ferramentas certas.

A Montblanc tem sido sinônimo da arte de escrever há mais de um século, desenvolvendo instrumentos de escrita que se mantém na vanguarda do design e da tecnologia da escrita à mão. Desde 1906, a pena, referida como a alma de todos os instrumentos de escrita da Montblanc, continua a exigir muita paciência e habilidade para criar ferramentas de alta precisão e várias etapas de trabalho manual que se leva anos para dominar. Cada pena é esculpida à mão em ouro maciço por mestres artesãos, que supervisionam 35 fases, revelando-se o resultado de perícia absoluta, intuição e paciência ilimitada. Com a nova Meisterstück Calligraphy Collection, a Montblanc eleva a arte das letras de mão com uma nova pena, a Flex Nib. Feita de ouro, para dobrar e espalhar mais facilmente, a Flex Nib permite uma caligrafia mais elaborada e  expressiva, com linhas verticais variando de apenas 0,3 mm a 1,4 mm de espessura, dependendo da pressão aplicada à caneta.

A consagrada Meisterstück Yellow Gold 149 traz a nova pena Flex, feita exclusivamente de ouro, com características especiais flexíveis que permitem uma variedade de estilos e proporciona uma notável sensação de escrita. Devido às pontas muito finas e à geometria especial da pena, um alto nível de precisão pode ser alcançado durante a escrita. As asas da pena Flex fecham rapidamente quando a pressão de escrita é reduzida, uma característica importante para muitos estilos de caligrafia. A variação da largura da linha é alcançada exercendo pressão, com amplas variações produzindo diferentes matizes de cor no papel.

Com a edição Meisterstück Calligraphy, a Montblanc presta homenagem à idade de ouro da caligrafia e do Iluminismo, celebrando a beleza da linguagem e a importância da cultura transmitida pela escrita. Obras-primas apreciadas por reis, príncipes, cardeais e famílias nobres nos tempos medievais e no Renascimento, os manuscritos iluminados eram expressões elaboradas de caligrafia. Em sua busca pela realização, os iluministas aplicaram cores radiantes e folha de ouro nos manuscritos para realçar as magníficas letras dos escribas. Folha de ouro real é aplicada à tampa e ao corpo de laca preta da Meisterstück Calligraphy, depois coberta por uma laca translúcida. A folha de ouro desta edição é aplicada manualmente, dando a cada peça seu próprio caráter. Com acessórios em PVD preto, a edição está disponível como caneta-tinteiro com a Expression Nib flexível de ouro sólido de 18K, como caneta-tinteiro Le Grand com a pena padrão Meisterstück 18K revestida de rutênio ou como Rollerball Le Grand.

Para completar a experiência de escrita Meisterstück Calligraphy, a Montblanc apresenta três cadernos diferentes em couro preto, com folha de ouro ou prata, bem como uma folha metálica vermelha. O papel é da Awagami, um fabricante que faz papel desde 1825 para alguns dos principais artistas, fotógrafos, designers, encadernadores e conservadores do mundo. Cada caderno informa a evolução histórica da caligrafia em três capítulos: ocidental, islâmico e asiático oriental. O caderno apresenta um exercício de escrita no final de cada capítulo.

Uma homenagem à arte japonesa, a Meisterstück Calligraphy Maki-e Edição Limitada 88 reúne a herança artística secular de Chisō, um dos principais ateliers de quimono yuzen, fundado em 1555, que criou elaborados quimonos de seda para a corte imperial, com a arte japonesa de laca maki-e. Em um processo que leva três meses para ser concluído, a antiga técnica de laca “urushi” foi usada na tampa e no corpo da edição, aplicando, alisando, lixando e polindo muitas camadas finas de laca “urushi” azul semitransparente à mão. Pó de ouro e minúsculas partículas de conchas de abalone partidas são então habilmente intercaladas entre as camadas.

O design captura a filosofia japonesa da beleza eterna da caligrafia em oposição à vaidade, um símbolo de mortalidade inescapável. A flor da cerejeira, um dos símbolos mais importantes da cultura japonesa, assinala o início da primavera e também representa a juventude, despertando para a vida e para o amor nascente. Como contrapartida da flor de cerejeira na primavera, a lua de outono celebra uma rica colheita. O topo desta edição é decorado com um incrustação de ouro branco Au 750 em forma de lua cheia e galhos delicados de flor de cereja em ouro Au 750. O corpo é decorado com incrustações de ouro amarelo representando o crânio, símbolo da vaidade. Com um número de limitação de 88, em referência à sorte e prosperidade do número 8, a Edição Limitada Meisterstück Calligraphy Maki-e apresenta uma pena de caligrafia flexível de ouro rose de 18K banhada a ródio, com um desenho especial de flor.

Uma celebração da rara arte de kara-kami, uma tradição ininterrupta de artesanato desde 1624 usando papel, tinta e blocos de impressão de madeira, o caderno Kara-Kami Fine Stationery Calligraphy apresenta papel Karakami premium artesanal com folha de ouro com finos divisores de papel washi e encadernação tradicional japonesa. Preciosos objetos de arte para a mesa de qualquer calígrafo, a Montblanc encomendou uma caixa de folha de ouro e laca urushi preta limitada a 3 peças e uma caixa de concha de abalone, ouro e laca urushi em peça única feita na grande tradição japonesa com laca urushi, apresentando detalhes artísticos em ouro precioso e incrustações de concha.
